Childhood trauma is a wounding of the psyche. Emotional wounds from past experiences influence our perceptions and behaviors. These experiences can have a profound and lasting impact on the development of an authentic self, and is often the cause of a negative self-image which carry with it feelings of shame, guilt, or unworthiness. Trauma, or wounding, is the result of growing up in an environment where your thoughts, feelings, and needs were consistently overlooked or ignored. It encompasses emotional neglect, psychological abuse, verbal abuse, physical abuse, sexual abuse, and neglect. You may find yourself grappling with feelings of low self-worth, difficulty expressing yourself, forming healthy relationship, indecision, ignoring your inner voice, and seeking external validation.
